On November 21, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Dignity and Freedom. On this day, we pay tribute to all those who fought for the right of Ukrainians to live in a free, independent, European country during the fateful events of our modern history. Today, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute traditionally laid flowers at the monument to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and honored the memory of polytechnics who paid the highest price for the freedom, sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine.
“Our university gave many lives for the sake of the Ukrainian people. 102 polytechnics – students, teachers, employees, graduates – gave their lives for freedom. Among them, four were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. KPI students participated in the Revolution of Dignity and the Orange Revolution, defending the ideals of dignity and freedom! I am convinced that our university will always show a patriotic stance, value freedom and educate true patriots!”, – Anatoliy Melnychenko, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Representatives of the Solomianskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, headed by Iryna Chechotka, joined the flower-laying ceremony.
“Today we pay tribute to all those who continue to fight for us, for Ukraine. We bow our heads to the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. We always remember those who are fighting for our freedom every day,” said Iryna Chechotka, head of the Solomyansky District State Administration in Kyiv.
Eternal memory to the heroes!
